The September Cruise North is planned as a multi-destination cruise. The cruise leaders are Joe and Pat Casey (m/v Otter) A weeklong cruise going as far north as Harvey de Grace and return south. As always, this is a PLAN and as we all know from experience, Plans are subject to the will of weather* and sea state. So, the plan detailed below is a plan and can be modified to suit the weather and participant inclinations by shortening and/or shifting destinations. Please look the plan over and get back to the cruise leaders (contact below). The long cruise north and back. General Comments: At each destination there will be an informal gathering to share appetizers and drinks. Dining can be on-board or at local restaurants; something we will decide on each day.

  • Wednesday 14th: West River to Rock Hall, Haven Harbor Marina (down in Swan Creek). Great store, floating docks, pool, restaurant (might be closed), say they have courtesy vehicles, Walk to Rock Hall 8/10th mile one way. 25NM from WRSC. Slip reservations: https://www.havenharbour.com/dockage.

  • Thursday 15th: Worton Creek, Worton Creek Marina, pool, no restaurant, store on site. 20NM from Swan Creek.   • Friday/Saturday 16/17th: Harve de Grace, Tidewater Marina. not much other than dockage. HOWEVER, Harve de Grace, great restaurants, bars, shops, walking. 21NM from Worton Creek. Slip reservations: https://dockwa.com/explore/destination/jncrqj-tidewater-marina?form=transient

  • Sunday 18th: Maryland Yacht Club, entrance of Rock Creek Park (off Patapsco), pool, restaurant, 36NM from Harve de Grace. Slip reservations: Cruise Leader will arrange this for all participants.

  • Monday 19th: Magothy, Eagle Cove, Anchor (raft weather permitting), pot luck. 15NM.

  • Tuesday 20th: Magothy to WRSC, return home. 20NM

Note: Fuel is available at all locations (The yacht yard near Gibson Island Yacht Squadron has fuel if you need to top off before returning to your home port. If you are interested, please let Joe and Pat know which plan you prefer at cruising@westriversc.comor call 703-402-6663. We will advise each destination that WRSC cruisers will be calling to reserve slips. You will need to make your reservation... Per standard practice, the cruise leader will maintain VHF radio watch with call-outs on the odd hour starting at 1100 each day. Use VHF-16 for hailing and VHF-72 for discussion and updates. *Thus far this year, zero tropical depressions. By this time in 2021 there had been 1 Cat 4, 1 Cat 3, 1 Cat 1, and 1 Tropical Storm.

HOURS OF OPERATION

WRSC is a fully volunteer club, so we do not have any paid office staff or any standard hours of operation. During the season, you'll likely always find a member down at the club. But if you'd like to come visit us, please sign up for a personal tour here and we will make sure we are there to greet you!
